Default semi-unique exhaust thread

i just bought a trans am that has several exhaust leaks before the catback. the problem is i am not sure what to do to replace them. i would go pacesetter, but i am worried about them rusting out when daily driven through a massachusetts winter. i MIGHT be able to grab kooks, but i would barely be scraping by and would not be able to work on the other small issues for a while. are there any other stainless options that wont scrape? (SLP) or should i just fix/replace the stock system until i can afford kooks? post up your reasoning.

check out the for sale part of hte forums, you can somtimes fine brand new Kooks or QTP's for hundreds less than they are at the stores. Alot of guys are goin turbo so there is a good chance you might find a good set for cheap.

Personally I think the Pacesetter's will be fine, I have a buddy who DD's his car during SD winters and he had Pacesetter LT's never had a problem with them. Still can't believe theres someone besides him who's crazy enough to drive there car in the winter, I park mine as much as possible lol.

Good Luck, watch the boards closely!!!

Coated Pacesetters. If they have surface rust, just wipe them off. They will be fine.

Even if you go uncoated pacesetters I don't think they will ever rust all the way through

i just picked up a set of macs that i modified...for 25 bucks. They were severely rusted, and even though i sand blasted them they still have pitting, so i would venture to say that painted pacesetters will fair the same way. Ive had coated pacesetters and the collector got all rusty and such. If you can find something for the right price, then do it...if not i would try and spring for a set of stainless LT's
