Quench = Head gasket thickness + Piston deck height.

On a stock LS1 Quench= .052 - .005= .047

.052 is about the thickness of a stock gasket and .005 is about how far the piston comes out of the cylinder bore on a stock LS1. Piston out of the hole is always a negative number. The values can vary a few thousandths on a stock engine.
