Default LS6 Heads

well i am thinking of purchasing some Ported LS6 heads for around 1300 a head. they come with the springs and valves but thats about it. worth the $$? and what else would i need for them to work with my ls1? can i just swap what else i need from the LS1 heads? and are the heads worth getting for a stock internal FI setup?

1300 a head seems realllllly steep. They will fit right on your ls1. Depending on which year you have you might have to change the valve covers for a 243 style head

I hope you mean 1300 bucks a set. Because 1300 for a single head...your gettin ripped off. You can swap evrything over from your LS1 heads, even the valve covers...unless you have a 98 F-body.

LOL @ 1300 a head.

In that case they better be the most high end head out there that nobody else in the LS1 world knows about.

texas speed sells worked LS6 heads for $1000 a set, they probably have the best bang for buck priced heads out there. Check their website, they are a sponsor here.

Or even Patriot LS6 heads at around $1,000 for a fully assembled set (both heads).

$1300 a head (or $2600) and I would just go to ETP 215s or AFR 205/225s.

GOOD LORD!!!! $1300 per head is totally *** raping someone. Like posted above Texas Speed has the best budget LS6 heads on the market right now. And personally I believe Livernois is second with their pricing.

You can find them way cheaper. Just read alot on here & you will realize how much of a rip off those are.

Lowering or raising compression? Even stock 243s will up the compression on a LS1 due to the slightly smaller combustion chamber.

You should get tuned after major mods just to get the most and best bang out of your setup!

LS6 (style) or 243 (~63.15cc - 64cc) heads will raise compression. 317 (~71 or 72 cc) heads should lower your compression. This is also taking into account what head gasket, etc you will be running.

EDIT: Typo...

You really need to call a vendor on here & tell them you plans & ask their honest opinion. Sounds like this could end up bad if you keep pickin parts like this. You need to figure out exactly how much boost you wanna run & exactly which heads & chambers will get you there safely. If you don't take the time now, it'll cost you way more later.

There is endless knowledge on here, I suggest you use it.

That's not a weekend project for your avrage guy working in his garage. Plan on running into at least 3 things you didn't expect and have to fix.

LS6 heads are more than 61cc's, they are more like 64.5cc's

before buying heads you should ask yourself what you want out of your car and how you want to get there (H/C, nitrous, FI) then start building a package around that. buying a set of heads with no idea if you want nitrous or even what cam you are going with is going to end up being a problem in the long run.

call up a sponsor that sells heads/cams and talk to them about everything, I'm sure they can help you get a combo that will get you to your goal.
