try pushing the lid towards the motor a little more and make sure its square on both sides.

I have a similar problem with my MTI lid when its not seated properly

Make sure its seated well, you can also try bending the clamp some to give it a bit more tension

I had the same problem and mine wasn't seated right. The top front of the lid needs to go inside the bottom part. I had to trim down the bellow in order for it to go that far in.

I have that problem time to time, just push it towards the motor like said before and clamp it down.

You know what I noticed! Is that they only pop open sometimes when I open the hood, the tabs get a little help from the ramair baffle. but not all the time, after I bent the clamps very gently.

Make sure the lid is sitting inside the base, especially at both corners. Lots of guys just have it sitting up on top of the base and that's too high for the clamps to work properly. Here's a picture of my lid sitting down inside the base.

Yes, that's the way it's supposed to sit and the flange on the filter itself does the sealing, not the lid or the base.

I had the same problem, like everyone said the top lip of the lid needs to be seated into the bottom lip of the filter box, after I did it right I never had a problem, it has been a year now.
