Default 1 7/8 Headers Too Big ?

When I bought the car it had a T-rex in it which is why I am guessing the previous owner went with the 1 7/8 headers, but I have been wondering if these may be too big for my setup?

Engine Mods Include:
-FMS F14 (232/234 .598/.598 112LSA +4)
-243 Casting LS6 heads with sodium filled valves (clean up milled .002)
-Patriot Gold dual spring kit
-Thunder Racing heat treated 7.400 chromemoly pushrods
-Rollmaster heat treated adjustable double roller timing set
-MTI Clear Induction lid w/ WIX paper filter
-Thunder Racing billet MAF ends, black
-Jantzer ported and black powdercoated throttle body
-FAST LSX 78MM Intake
-March underdrive pulley
-ARP Pro Series rod bolts
-Ported LS6 oil pump

The headers on the car now are:
Edelbrock Victor Series drag headers: 1 3/4" to 1 7/8" stepped long tubes

Leave 'em alone, you're golden. You will also be in good shape when you put that 427 under the hood.

You hurting low end with 1 7/8. You should go with 1 3/4. It will be a better size across the power band.

He already has the 1-7/8's, it's not worth it to swap them out.

FWIW - I switched from 1-3/4 to 1-7/8 and noticed no SOTP losses at any RPM.

These motors are super efficient going with a bigger pipe won't hurt at all. I went with a stepped over my old 1.3/4 I can feel a huge difference. No dyno numbers yet but I also put in 4.30's so that may negate my gains

SOTP isnt not a great way to measure gain or loss. Only the dyno or the track can show the difference.

I've also been kicking around the idea of switching from my 1 3/4" to 1 7/8. You want to trade??? LOL, I would say leave them there, not enough power lost or gained to offset the serious pain in the @ss they are to remove/install.

If I did it would only be for kooks/QTP...I kinda expected to hear what you guys have said. I've been thinking about QTP's lately, maybe I was just looking for a reason to buy them

I remember Tony Mamo saying that the AFR 205's actually perform better with 1&3/4".

Leave them alone, besides if you do have the car in three years and decide to sell it after college, the next guy will be happy you left them on.

I'm a big fan of the stapped headers. From your original post it's hard to tell...Are you now running the stepped headers witha final 1 7/8 primary, or a true 1 7/8 all the way out?

I think the full 1 7/8 might be a tad large for your current setup, but not enough to swap IMO. Now is you are on stepped headers, you have the best header setup(again, IMO) that you can buy

Not too big for the power but just a PITA to deal with on the install and with the plugs etc etc.

when my car comes off the road... one of the first things I'm doing is putting a set of 1 7/8 stepped to 2 inch headers on it, along with a set of dumps off the ends of them

brings me back to my senior year .. enough vibration to bounce extra change around in my cup holder, having to yell to the person in the passenger seat in order to carry on a conversation.. say hello to rasp and goodbye to your hearing!!
