Default LS2 on stock displacement = bad. LS2 + 383???

The ls2 intake is probably the most misunderstood lsx part out there. If you have an ls1 car with headers and a lid(bolt ons), then no, the ls2 isnt what you need. Thats like putting a 850cfm double pumper on a stock 305 for a old chevy truck, Its not gonna make power. Its gonna run like ****. On the other hand If you have a built 408 lq9 that needs to breathe you need an intake that flows more cfm's at its smallest point(throttle opening) Having a 90mm intake on a "built" motor will make more power than an 78mm(ls6) no matter how you look at it. The reason people are not seeing the power gain with the ls2 on stock ls1 motors, is cause the ls2 is engineered for bigger displacement engines.

I was using the search function and doing some research, and what the guy I quoted makes sense... that the LS2 intake is optimized for a larger displacement engine, whereas the LS6 is designed for a stock displacement engine. I am doing a 383 swap, and I am thinking that the LS6 manifold I have on my car now is going to be a restriction, and I would like to step things up. I don't want to spend a grand on a FAST 90/90 combo right now, would an LS2 intake be a better choice? Thanks!

You have a 383 and you're only making 360 to the wheels

there is more to that story

it's a low compression motor with a small cam...

the motor is purpose built for boost. the cam is supposed to be good for a s/c and of course, so is the 9.2 compression.

but none of it matters, the puter died today, i'm in mourning.

TR 214/220 .600/.523 115... Yeah that is a pretty small cam. The lift is good on the intake side, and 9.2 compression, hey you can run on 87 Why are you saying oops? Were you planning on a blower and its not in the cards now or what?

actually, I added the oops when I realized that the cam was much too small for the 383, but didn't change it when I was told that the blower will love it.

I wish I could run 87 octane, lol...the timing is set rather high...so I'm thinkin gotta stick with the 93...I'd give it a shot, but i won't be driving the car until next year sometime...it's gonna be a butt load of money (to me anyway) to fix it

LOL!

The LS2 DOES show gains over an LS1 intake, it's just that they are simply on par with an LS6, which is why most people say not to get them.

It's not "engineered for larger displacement motors". The LS1 is a 346, the LS2 is only a 366 lol.

The 383 on an LS1 bore is not ideal. I wouldn't waste my money and do a 383, spend the $500 extra and do something else. JMHO

Plenty of people have LS1 based 383 setups and they make good power.

I'm just not saying it's not ideal. Something about the unbalanced bore of an LS1, rather than a traditional small block.
