airlid rubbing
I put a granitelli airlid on my 98 z28 and it is rubbing the paint on 2 spots on the inside of my hood. Does anybody have a solution other than removing the airlid?

You could grind down the spots on your hood so that they dont rub, otherwise keep some paint thinner handy so you rub those spots off quick before someone notices when you open up your hood. Mine rubs too but its not that big of a deal to me, I just clean if off once in a while when Im washin her up.

My SLP has never rubbed. I have heard of people putting a piece of flet or something like that on the spot(s) where the hood rubs and then remove it when they need to, for a car show or when showing off their engine. Just a thought, I;ve seen it on here before.

I know this has come up several times before. My SLP lid rubbed until I made sure that all the tabs on the back of the lid were in the slots. No problem after that. Not sure if the Granitelli is the same as SLP.

mine hasnt rubbed because i installed it properly. what you have to do is make sure the lid is pushed ALL THE WAY BACK into the 4 tabs. at first you may think it is but it usually isnt. like literally lean with your full body weight into it and youll prob feel it move back another half inch or so. it makes a huge difference. the front of the lid should have no overlap with the airbox below it at all.

Well i tried a heat gun and a piece of metal I was able to take out the high spot with out any problems just flattend it a little works perfect. I checked the fit sits the same way as the pick.
