Just get some 02 simms. They plug right into the 02 plugs and prevent you from throwing codes.

From experience... get the simms. Even if you're going to get a tune, the time between the install and tune, the car won't run right. "The rear 02s are only for emissions," is a BS statement. My car ran as if it was on 6 cylinders, ordered the simms, nearly perfect. I'll be selling mine after I get them tuned out... IDK if they're work for a G35, but if they do shoot me an offer. They'll be off the car come Friday.

Your experience has misled you

The rear O2's are only for emissions. Something else was wrong with your car if it was running like crap, or you had accidentally unplugged the fronts. The PCM could give a **** less what the rear O2's are spitting out concerning any fueling/spark/airflow table.

A basic code delete tune can be had for cheap. You can then rip your AIR, EGR, rear O2's, EVAP, CAGS, etc. O2 sims are usually about the same price, but you'll get MUCH more with a little 5 minute PCM modification. MTI did all mine for $75, which is about the going rate for a set of O2 sims IIRC.

Also, I've seen people use O2 sims and STILL get the SES light. The computer has a very narrow allowance for rear O2 sensor feedback that it considers as "ok" for it to consider the cats as working properly. An extra drop of solder or a manufacturing defect in the resistor(s) will cause the intended output signal to skew enough to throw up a red flag.

Seems like they have worked good, but it's all up to you.

I would still get a tune, but only because ripping **** out from under my hood that doesn't need to be there is one of my favorite things to do.
