Default Off Road Y or Catted Y

MODS: LS6 INTAKE, LID(K&N filter), FTRA, P&P TB, & GMMG
FUTURE MODS: Heads, Cam, Fast 90/90, LT headers

I'm going to get LT's as soon as I fix my clutch or transmission...but I was wondering If I should get a Catted-Y or ORY with my set up..what do you guys think?

I hear that ORY *AND* LTs are a problem with the Kalifornia inspections. I'd go with LTs, ORY, and the Nevada mod.

Depends on what you want from your y-pipe. Since I daily drive mine and don't want the gasoline smell and the drone of no cats, I got a set of Magnaflow metallic high-flow cats. They're about the closest thing you can do to running cats. If you don't want the rawness of an ORY, I'd recommend it.

It's better to wonder what your car would sound like with an ORY than to have one and wish you didn't. Go with the catted Y. It'll sound badass with your GMMG and LT's.

I have been running lth's, ory, and Borla exhaust for over 2 years. Yet, I have no clue about this gas smell comment. My car exhaust smells normal car.

Cats will cut down on the rasp. If you're worried about the cost of a catted Y, buy the cats seperate and have an exhaust shop fab one up. But be warned, at least around here, most shops won't think about ground clearance. They'll just throw it on a lift and make something up. Find a GOOD shop if you go that route.

I saved 200 bucks and make more power with an ORY. It was a pretty easy decision for me.

as I've got a GMMG I'll be tossing cats into my Y-Pipe later on down the road, just passed emissions and all that **** is coming off soon, so by the time rolls around next year when I'll need it again, I'll have the cats.

Im in the same boat as you, I've already got the QTP's sittin in the garage and when I get home i'll be buying a catted Y because It'll pass the CA sniffer test easier. As for visual, Im pretty sure I can find SOMEONE in the Bay Area who can overlook the shiny set of QTP Full Length headers sitting in the engine bay...

That or i'll smog it and then install. Either way, I'll be gettin the catted-Y.

Hey SSmokin, you down for a run sometime in May?? Loser buys the beer .

A good set of metallic highflow cats flow nearly as good as having no cats at all and make similar power

Ditto. I ran my buddies 04 Cobra with Bassani O/R X and catback, smaller pulley and some other mods. Hes putting down 457 to the wheels and all I had was a catback and K&N filter. Surprisingly, he didnt pull me as much as I expected, but I think he was running in 4th gear while I was in 3rd. Still fun though.
