Default LS6 vs FAST manifold?

Is it worth the extra money to buy the fast manifold? I am not building a race car but I am a bang for the buck type of guy. Is the extra 300 worth the 11hp or should I find it elsewhere. I will install a cam but not heads on my car if that helps any.

If you have the LS1 intake, you are the ideal canidate for the FAST intake, do a lil clean up work on the ports and over all will be in the end better then the LS6

Still i'd say it depends what your over all goals are.

So what are they? Bang for buck, ls6 is hard to beat and more then enough for mild setups.

Buy headers, off-road Y-pipe, and an LS6 intake for the price of the FAST instead.

Pacesetters = $375
ORY = $125
Used LS6 intake = $300
Total = $800 (about the same as the FAST intake)

I bought my headers from Byunspeed, but I've seen them for the same price elsewhere.

Those mods might have given you 5-10 hp. Maybe. The LS1 intake is not that crappy. With the mods you have now, there's no way in hell a FAST intake is justified. Get a lid and catback to start with. If you have an automatic, buy a stall. If you have a manual, buy headers.

Whatever. They are affordable, easy to install, and gain as much horsepower as any header (let the flaming begin). QTP and Kooks are nice, but **** spending two, three times the money.

He's right. The Vara Ram is an impressive intake mod for a C5. I don't know OR CARE what it shows on a braggin' strip (dyno sheet), but I know it very much improves performance. Noticeably. Which takes way more than 5hp.

If you're bottle feeding it, I don't think you need a FAST system. I mean, the bottle is feeding the oxygen to the motor. So why would you need more intake flow? Up the jet, and you got it!

You're missing the point. Your airflow is going to come from the bottle. Unless you're building this for an NA/bottle build. But you said it as if the car is built around using the bottle. What does nitrous add? Oxygen. What is airflow adding? Oxygen. You would be wasting money if that's the case. Now if you want max NA power as well, then yes, get a 90/90.

That is exactly what I was wanting and its what everyone should want. Maximum HP NA as well as on the bottle at least in my opinion. However my problem is the extra 300 I am spending for 11hp is halfway to a new NX kit or even a lil short for a used one. But I do like to have the best pieces that I can get my hands on and everyone says the fast manifold is the way to go.

Just depends on your goals. Some people only race on spray. So they have no need for a FAST setup. Some people like me prefer to race NA and only spray very rarely. So I want a 90/90. But my buddy who has a light, forged motor, nitrous built, full suspension track car... he has no use for a FAST. He'll not be racing on motor when it counts, so NA doesn't matter. He wants more air flow, he hits each stage with a bigger shot.

That's basically the ups and downs. I like the idea someone else had a couple of weeks ago: they used a 78mm FAST intake (same runners as a 90mm, just smaller snout) and hogged it out to 85mm, then used the Professional-Products 85mm throttle body. Saved a few hundred bucks that way.
