I'm about fed up w/ my Kooks headers & GMMG catback
Its vibrating the hell out of my car It hits my car when I hit a bump and its got stuff rattling inside the car and its driving me nuts. The y-pipe is touching the bottom of the car on the driver side and the intermediate pipe is touching the back of the car.
I know Kooks are known for their ability to tuck the exhaust in tightly, but this is getting old. I took it to the exhaust shop and they did as much as they could w/out hurting anything. (Seeing it was a complete stainless system, they were careful). I did order the bumpstop bracket from Thunder Racing that is supposed to help the driver side, but I dont see it happening. THe whole exhaust is sitting just too high and needs to come down a bit.
Sorry for ranting. I just simply wanted headers on my car and I never knew it was going to be such a PITA. I havent seen this problem w/ anyone else's Fbody that i've ridden in.
/rant.

Is the Y-pipe only hitting when it is under a load, or is it up against the car all the time?

I have the exact same setup and my catted y banged the drivers side floorboard also. Took it to an exhaust shop and they heated up and flattening the y pipe just a little bit where it was contacting the drivers side floorboard. Hasn't been a problem since.

I read ALL about the Poly Motor Mounts before my header install last year. I decided not to do them, and don't have a single problem with my Kooks/GMMG. 2000 TA with 54K on stock motor mounts. I guess with a higher mileage car you may see some sagging with your mounts that would cause the banging. See what the bumpstop does, then try the heater hose method on the other one if that doesn't totally cure it. Hopefully you get it cleared up since it's a kick *** system IMO.

I have heard that poly mounts will lead to the car riding alot more rough. Considering my car is a DD and not a track car, you can see why I made the decision I made.
The car has 130k miles on it & is an 02.

When I mean against the car I mean up against the floorboard. I wonder why it (the y pipe) would be like that?

I know what you mean!! I installed the pace LT's a custom ypipe made, the banging started, went immediately to the garage and installed the antibanging hanger. It cured it for a little while, now it started banging again!! I took it to the muffler shop and muffler shop to give it more clearance on the driver side, now you can slide your whole hand(on the driverside) between the pipe and the floorboard compared to about a fingers length. It didn't cure it cause now it only bangs when I get on it!!!!! and that **** is driving me frikin crazy *** hell!!

I am having a hard time understanding how the motor mounts are going to keep the pipes from banging. The exhaust is sitting up too high and is touching the floor. If anything, the mounts need to sag some to keep it off the bottom of the car.

to keep the i-pipe from hitting, try to pull the gmmg apart a little where the pipes meet over the axle and tighten the clamp back down. Also, check the rubber in the exhaust hangers. It could be worn, causing the catback to sit to low and that could cause the pipe to hit the axle.
As for the y-pipe, get some poly motor mounts. It will keep the exhaust from moving much when you are driving. Also, if the y-pipe is hitting under your seat and the mufflex hanger doesn't work, the heater hose method is cheap and proven. You just need hose, exhaust wrap, and some clamps. Here's a pic:
