Default My plugs are fouled, pass side head cold?

Well, I pulled gthe plugs and the drivers side plugs are black and only two of the passenger side plugs are black. I do not have a tune on this car yet (TR230/224 boltons) but I did run the car with open headers (no pipe extension) and I have been told that will confuse the o2s and foul out my plugs. I have a full exhaust system now and are going to change the plugs.

My questions is, why is the drivers side heads and header hot as hell after running for 5 min, and the passenger side is mildly warm? Could this be due to the fouled out plugs? I do have a check engine light that I haven't checked yet, but will soon. You can also smell the gas.

Please help! I need to drive!

Well, I checked my plugs and they were bad. I put new plugs in, ran alittle better, then went into closed loop and ran like ***(Backfire). I am going to switch O2s and see if the problem persits. I hope not.

Well the thread to myself is getting better. I switched the O2s, same result. there still is no check engine light. I decided to switch the coil packs. Driver to pass and pass to driver. Now the car won't start. I think I found my problem. A friend is in the middle of a motor swap, so I am going to plug in his coils, which we know work, and see if that eliminates the problem.

I'd double check all your fuses to make sure everything is getting power. Did this just start after the cam swap?

Fuses are good. I don't know how it ran stock. It has had the cam from day one. I swapped a 98ls1 t56 into my 87 Trans Am.

Well, I switched the coil packs and had the same outcome. Drivers side header hot, passenger cold. I am now going to double check the rockers. Maybe the passenger side is loose?

Check or switch injectors. I had a problem with my #6 and #7 primaries not being up to temperature and found that those injectors were the problem. I had them cleaned and all is well...........

Rockers are fine. Switched in jectors still ran same. Checked for spark on all coils, missing a few switched coil into same location, still didn't spark. All coils have power, must be something in the ecu. Maybe stuck in limp mode?

Did you switch out the injectors with another set is what I meant. Borrow a friends and switch them out. They have to be from the same year car as yours. If you just switched the injectors to a different location, of course it's gonna be the same.........

Well, after searching for over 4 hours, I found my problem. Not all of my plug wires were "clicked twice" on the coil packs. I did not know about this as this is my first LS1. Now I know and knowing is half the battle! Go Joe!

Oh yea, she runs great now!

I went to start it yesterday and it started backfiring. I thought, "Man f#ck this", put into the garage for the night. Played with it a little today. Found out my coil packs were plugged in the wrong way! I switched the harness around, and what a nice start up! Took it around the block, holy crap!, things gots some nutzs! Still need to do a few things here and there, but at least shes running right!

I have learned alot about the ls1 in 10 months. I built this motor from a long block and bought just about every nut and bolt for it. Now it all comes together!
