Air intake setup! Which one??
Ok, serious question about air docks, lids and filters. What is the air intake setup that gives the best HP gain or works the best. I need to know becuase i'm gonna be buying that soon enough for my car. My first choice landed on the Volant air intake. They say it grats a 20hp gain, engine suerly. Anyone run that setup? Any suggestions? I have functionnal ram air hood with big nostrils and air dock that i can mod a big bigger if needed.

Well the claim of 20 hp is bull. Probably get you 10 at the most. My opinion which I share with probably 90% of members here is to just get an aftermarket lid and filter. It will yeild you the same gains and cost you much less. My .02 People that run the Volant or the K&N setup might swear by it though, but there isn't a proven, factual gain between one and the other.

I still think I'll go with something like the volant setup, but maybe custom, I'll grind the inner part of the hood enough in order to have the airfilters fit right behind the nostril grills or something like that, I havent figured out yet. Btw anyone know what diameter is the size of the inner K&N cone airfiltre that'd fit on a volant intake or anything similar?

ya know folks...since he does have a WS6 hood
Seal that bitch to the airbox. you need to drill out the rain baffles in your hood, and then from there you are gonig to get some weatherstripping and place it around the inside of the hood where the hole is at. by blocking off the airbox from all other air besides the hood, you wont get engine heat being sucked in, and it will be about as "ram air" as it gets. many people have done it and love it. I actually plan to do this myself and best of all, it only costs as much as the weather stripping with the same gainsas a lid or other cai!

It's a custom hood that I have, by looking trough the nostrils, you can see directly the air box. The hood has a hole that sits directly in front of the airbox without anything in the way, i'll try to get some pics of it with my custom airbox, basically it's the oem one that I trimmed in order to let more air to flow in, but I guess with a Volant one or something like it custom made it'd flow better.
