Default Pacesetter coated Y or Hooker stainless Y?

I'm getting one of these for my QTP's and just wondering if anyone thinks I should go coated Pacesetter. I'm thinking having a complete stainless exhaust system is the way to go. I don't know which one, if either, is better performance wise than the other. My cost is about $80 more for the Hooker. Thanks for any useful input.

You'll undoubtedly have some fitment issues, and either of them may need some cutting. I'd rather cut the stainless than cut a coated piece (though I didn't know Pacesetter sold a coated version).

Yea, I found Pacesetters with jethot coating. I've heard quite a few not happy with Jethot y pipes.

Do Jethot Y-pipes have better clearance than the TSP? Where can I order a Jethot Y-pipe? I'm trying to make up my mind between a catted Y or ORY...What sponsor will have the best price?

Go with a custom y from a muffler shop if you can. Those are the ones that rarely bang the floor boards to death and are nicely tucked.

I originally wanted to get a custom catted-Y and I called Synergy, but their price was HIGH. I think they quoted me around $400ish...

Well, if you just go to bob's muffler shop I bet it is not too much at all. 400$ stainless may be a good deal for a fully custom built one. I bet theirs is pretty high quality nonetheless.

Yeah...hMm...If I were to get a custom Y I would have to drive about 50 miles to Synergy with open LT's because I'm doing my own install. Could I still leave my GMMG on my car with the I-pipe and Y-pipe out? I'll just have them install the Y-pipe for me.

If you buy a y and install it yourself.....it is not custom. That is off the shelf.

I may even consider the Mufflex/QTP one, I just thought it made good sense to stick with stainless. I'm tired of dealing with custom anything. Nothing but a pita for me.

I drove around for a few days with open headers and stock exhaust. Since I knew this was the plan, I had the shop cut the stock y-pipe just out of the merge, so it could be tied to the crossbrace.

The local long time custom exhaust shop I used before told me he couldn't touch making a stainless Y for $340 or so. When I had Jethot lts, I believe I bought a used Hooker Y and he welded in an extension piece or two. It worked great, I fixed the banging on the driver side under WOT with a driver side poly engine mount bushing.

i would do this:

1.) buy two magnaflow bullet cats from EAD performance. they're something like $90 each.

2.) buy a few feet of stainless exhaust tubing from stainless works.

3.) buy a stainless merge from stainless works

take the materials to joe shmo's exhaust shop down the street and have someone fab it up for you. you'll likeley be spending around $275 in parts, plus maybe 2 hours of labor. total cost: around $400, give or take. that's oodles less than you're paying for, say, a kooks stainless y-pipe and you'll have a superior merge, better fit and the best cats on the market.

Finding someone who can bend the pipe properly is my issue. I can't stand hearing all the excuses and the "hey bud, we had to...." stuff. I would really like to find something I can use stainless clamps on and install it myself, if possible. ^, would be the best idea, I just think it's too much of a pita for me. I try not to involve my other half and I work as a service advisor from 7:15 to 6 m-f, so my time is very limited. Labor around here is $90-100 @hour.

Ok this might be a dumb question, but I just bought Corsa tips and I wanted to get it welded to my GMMG C/B. I was wondering if I were to install the LT's and Y pipe if it would change the position of where my tips were originally? I remember reading on here about month ago where some guy said that. He said his tips moved a lil far out when he installed the LT's and Y pipe...

They do good work...charge about 40 bucks an hour or less

They havent build a Y-Pipe for me, but they have done some good work for me
