Default painting headers

i just got my painted pacesetters and really dont like the black so i was thinking of painting them white... or maybe wait for it... purple... to match my mufflers lol

can i do this?

you can but it will more then likely flake off due to condisation and rapid heat changes. You should of got them coated then they would look all shiny, but thats okay they still do their job.

don't use the header paint. I painted mine bring silver then black on my 85 z28 that's in my sig. and they only lasted 100-150 miles before they looked all rusty. get them ceramic coated

haha well i just wont paint them ill leave them black its sounding like more bother than its worth

yea, if you paint them it will probally flake off the painting thats already there ALOT faster too

I painted a cheap set of flowtechs that I had on an old K5 blazer, but I sandblasted them first. I used the ceramic paint you can get at any parts store. Lasted over a year and 15k miles or so

A set of chome'ed header will eventually look purple, and rust 1-2 years later.

save your money, and either get them ceramic coated, or put the money into something else.

your wasting your time mine started flaking as soon as the headers warmed up.if you stripped the headers to bear metal and put a couple coats of epoxy[primer] on them then the hi temp paint it may last but that would be very time consuming and expensive.if i had it to do over i wouldve got the coateed headers

yeah, i have the supermaxx system and they came coated, going on 3 years now and 35K miles and aren't too dull. i figure in another year or so i'll take them off and get re-coated.
