Default Granatelli wires, why so much $$$, worth it?

I first heard about these wires in a mag, and we all know how reliable mags are now. Anyway, they said 10-15 RWHP gain. For wires thats nuts. I have done a lot of searching today and see that most people run either MSDs, Taylors and a few GMMP.

Resistance w/ the Granatelli wires is suppose to be .05 ohms.

Why does no one run these wires? Is it because they are over priced? Or are they really that much better but no one wants to spend the money.

I use to hear about 700 dollar tourqe convertors are great an no one would use them cause the price, then I bout one. Then I understood.

Thanks for any input.

Unless your stock wires are shot or coming apart, I'd suggest concentrating the money you'd spend on these wires elsewhere...

Its all marketing. If they said they wouldn't give any increase in HP nobody would buy them. I'd leave the stockers until they crap out on you. The $ can be better spent elsewhere.

its been a while but i think the stock wires at like 500-600 ohms per foot and the msd are 40-50. the granatelli's are "supposed" to be under 1 ohm but also cost like 3 times as much as the msd's. the way i see it, getting wires that are 500+ ohms less is worth $60 but the 40 ohm difference between the msd and granatelli is certainly not worth the price difference.

sorry to say it but you are so wrong, granatellis come in under 1 ohm of resistance compared to msd being up in the 300's.

This is good info but in the end does it matter? Its only a spark plug wire. If your stock wires are good OP then reuse them. If they are messed up then I would buy a set of MSD's.

I do believe that all of these resistance ratings are rated per foot. On an LS1, your talking about actual resistance being half of the rated resistance.

Im a big fan of swapping out the stockers, but the MSD's are probably as good as it gets, unless you want to take the time to ground each individual wire with some Nology wires. Probably no gains in power with the Nologys over the MSD's, but I have had 3 MSDs come apart on me in the past year. Getting kind of sick of it, but now I have lots of spare wires at least.
