Plan on getting an SLP Lid
From what i've read, the stock lid basically sucks and is very restrictive. I checked out SLP's site and they have a lid for 102.95 i think. Would i need to buy any other parts to make that lid work on my car? Is it basically just a swap? It already had a K+N air filter so if i just have to replace my lid that'd be sweet. Thanks for the help.
I also read that SLP lid's are a bitch to get on, but they are coming out with a new one that should fit better. Would i be just better of getting a whisper lid or something since we all know a lid is a lid?

The aftermarket lids are a worthy upgrade and will also remove part of the factory airbox, which I believe is there to help keep things quiet. You will see what I mean when you install it. You won't need to buy anything to go with it, and as far as I know they all still use the factory filter. Performance wise, I don't think there is any differences in the aftermarket lids, so it really comes down to fit, finish and looks. I don't know what's best but I've had a "whisper" style for a few years and it's been a good one.

All lids are pretty much the same. I went with an SLP off of ebay for around 90 bucks and it fits perfect. I chose SLP because of the finish. There is nothing else needed. And, just in case your thinking about it, dont waste money on the smooth bellow.

Well some people say that i will see a performance gain and incrase in throttle response, but the only reason i would add a lid would be performance and if i don't get that i really don't need it cause i don't care about looks really right now. Im just already used to the stock horsepower its not enough.

when installing the new lid, put the lid in place and secure it first then tighten all the hose clamps should have a nice fit.

Lids are for sale regularly here on 'tech...just wait for a nice one to buy and still save a few bucks.
The smooth bellows doesn't add any HP, but it does look better than the stock connection as well as most rubber hose others have used (aka the "ferco" mod).
