Default Thermostat question please help!!!!

I just recently won a bid for a $25 on a 160 degree thermostat for my LS1....when i recieved it it didnt come in its box, no paper work or intructions, and it was missing the O ring........how do i know that he didnt send me a false thermostat.??

Maybe, but maybe not. Go get some water and put in on the stove with the thermo sitting in the water. Turn up the heat slowly, get a thermometer to see the temp of the water. once it hits 160 deg it should open up. If it does then it’s the right one, good luck

Ok i put it in the water and i watched it...at 120 degrees it started to open, then at at about 140 it was open about 1 cm...is that sounding bout right for a 160 degree thermostat? and how big is it open all the away??

Wait wait i made a mistake....the thermo that i used was not calibated......so still not sure......can anyone tell me what should happen when i put my 160 degree thermostat in mildy heated water.....like how much should open at different temp and such.?? thanx

Man i wish i knew..... your best bet is go to your local store and get a cheap *** thermometer. and do the process over again. remember your fans will still turn on with the stock temp settings unless you change it.

nevermind you have hypertech, i read it in your sig. so you wont have ot worry about the fans
