Default Ls6 intake swap

I'm gonna install my ls6 manifold in a bit but I wondering if I need to leave those sponges attached? I never heard anything about that.

If you're using the LS6 coolant pipe/plugs won't make a difference - some people keep the original LS1 pipes and need to make room for them under the intake, don't know if they remove them or not. The original LS1 intake has them. Does "kalifornia" know what you're doing?

I think it is there to block debris from getting under there or maybe they are there to hold down the knock sensors?

What about keeping water out of the knock sensor wells?

^That too. I had to buy new gaskets with my intake and it came with new sponges. So I'd say leave them on.

I found leaves and crud uderneath my old intake so I used the sponges. I dont get how all that crap got there so I cleaned it all out. In case your'e wondering I too broke the ops. I would set the intake down but it wouldn't sit flush so I kept removing it. I removed most of the fins but I still had a gap between the intake and the head. It turned out to be the knock harness. As far as results I'm happy with the intake,my exhaust sounds better too. Thanks guys! next mod... pulley.
