Default Oily Substance in LS6 intake manifold

I just bought a used LS6 intake manifold, and I just noticed that there's an oily substance covering the entire inside of the manifold. I wasn't sure if this was supposed to be here, and just checking with you guys on here if you know what it is, and if it would harm the engine if I left it like that. Also, would it hurt anything if I just cleaned the manifold and let it dry out? Maybe a stupid question but I just don't wanna ruin anything on the engine.
