aftermarket air lid fit?
I recently installed a whisper air lid on my 99 Z and it keeps popping the metal clips off in the front and appears to not fit well at all. Anyone else have the same issue and found a way to resolve it or does anyone know of any other aftermarket air lids that seems to fit better? thanks.

I've got a Whisper lid from LS1Speed thats so old its says Quartermile Performance on it and it fits like a glove. Most of my friends that had fitment problems didn't have them on rite.

pull the lower box out a bit and where the lid is between the clips put it down a bit and the lower air box will help keep it on. I have done this for 2 years and the clips have never came off, and it was installed correctly.

Try taking everything off up to the TB and putting it back on, making sure everything is as snug as possible. What bellows do you have? Maybe you could try trimming it a little bit if it's an aftermarket one.

I cut a big notch out of the lower airbox assembly under where the MAF rests. You also have to insure that that airlid is pushed all the way towards the intake and that the front edge of the airlid is behind the lower front edge of the lower airbox. It will clip on so tight you'll worry about popping the clips back off. I had the same exact battle, but once I had it pushed all the way back and that front edge behind the lower box lip, all is good.

As stated, make sure all 4 "prongs" are in the holders at the back of the lid. Don't be afraid to push down and back a little on your lid to get them all in. Once they are in, the lip of the lid that is BETWEEN the two metal clips has to be BEHIND the airbox.
Outside the clips is fine to hang over, but inside the clips the lid has to be behind the airbox lip.
