PS Pump Bushing? What is this?

Default PS Pump Bushing? What is this?

OK, I got a replacement power steering pump from a 2000 camaro for my 99 WS6. When I got the pump there was some kind of pulley bushing on the shaft or something. I need to know if this comes off because my pulley will not fit on this new pump lol. Well, I'll let the pics explain below.

it's not a bushing... is that thing even made of rubber?

I dunno looks like an adapter or something.

Oh no, it's metal. I went to the stealership and they said that it should come right off with a puller or air gun it was their assumption that some engineer along the line decided to put a different kind of spline or something on the pump to maybe lessen the workload on the pump by decreasing the amount of RPM's it spins at....that's what they told me anyway. I'm going to have someone try to pull it off today and see what happens. If anyone else has any info on this please let me know.
