Any JBA header users out there?
Yes, i know they are supposed to be useless on a 2001 f-body but I have heard of cars picking up 1-2 tenths with these with a tune. Can anyone confirm that they are effective? This is for my Cali friends. Thanks

everyone says that shortys are no good, but I am rocking them here in cali, I am sure I would make more power with LT's but I bet my shortys are better then stock manifolds (not for the money though )

I had them on my old car and YES you can feel a difference, but its not as big as a difference as LT's, Yea LT's are a bigger bang for your bux, but if you wanna stay emission friends there the way to go, or spend the money elsewhere

I have to agree about the tuning. I went with the PaceSetter shorties myself and I want to go with long tubes but Cali says NO!!! . My tuner/mechanic told me I am leaving about 20 to 30 horses on the table because I don't have long tubes. I just do not want to go with the hassle of changing stuff out when it is time to smog.
Oh yeah I just did my smog. Passed with flying colors.

I told him I had shorties and that they are C.A.R.B. approved. He told that my car "sounded funny"... "Kind of lumpy..."
I told him it was "bone stock"

since longtubes are longer, they scavenge more effectively sooner, meaning you start gaining throughout the whole rpm range. shorties can still scavenge, but they require a very high rpm to scavenge as well as longtubes. if we could rev our engines to 12,000 rpms, a shorty header would be just as effective as longtubes or darn close. however, since we redline at 6-7k, shorties are ineffective until the very high rpms.
in short, you WILL gain power, even over '01-'02 manifolds GUARANTEED because they scavenge better, but it would only be 5 or so horsepower. it's up to you whether or not that's worth it to you.

every one says crap about shorty headers, but out here in cali , my friend has an 02 t/a M6 with and I stress nothing but JBA shortys and a y pipe, not even a lid or a K&N, if they don't make a difference why would his car trap 109.9 in the 1/4 with only those things? shortys may not peek big hp gains, but they must make great under the curve gains.
