Default Porting stock manifolds? need guidance

hey yall i have a set of 99 stock manifolds sitting in my garage...my plan is to make a sleeper out of my car (as much of a sleeper as a WS6 can be). my plans are a cheater cam, Ported 99 heads, ported manifolds on an aftermarked ORY/Catted y havent decided. basically when someone looks at the motor i want it to look clean but mostly stock....im shooting for around the 380 HP mark on this motor.....the car is a 2002 WS.6.....who does porting on manifolds or is it something i could do myself....i understand the 99 manifolds dont flow as well as the 02s so i want to get better flow then what i have already at least lol ....what does everyone think...i know longtubes would be a better investment for HP (and i might go with them depending on cost of porting). what does everyone think

Waste of time. Your not going to make them flow as good as your stock 02 manifolds. Just leave the manifolds be or go with longtubes.

it honestly is not worth the trouble to port any of the stock manifolds. Maybe 10hp or less? Definitely go longtubes.

The only time I ever saw anything on this was wayyyy back when nobody made headers. It was called the hollow log mod. Do a search on the other unamed ls1 site, you may find it.

If you really want to stay with the sleeper thing just leave the manifolds and get one of the cams that are designed to work on the stock manifolds. If you go longtubes the sleeper thing is pretty much out the window no matter what color they are. You could stay with the stock manifolds, a cheatr cam, get an SLP OTL, catted y, port the throttle body, you didn't say if it was an A4 or M6 if an A4 you can get a stall, gears - 4:10 if M6, 3:73 if A4. You could easily make a quick car that is fairly subtle.

I was able to find that info here from what I read it was around 10 HP and alot of cali people who didn't want spend too much $$ did it instead of shorties.

As said before using later exhaust manis will also help.

I also ask my self why people bother yelling go long tubes when it wouldn't be what this person wants? If you were to order a cheese pizza and you got a pepperoni then were told, "it's better" would you really be thrilled?

I remember from my days working on old muscle cars that some people used to use this process called extrude honing. I dont know what the process was, but it would hog out the inside of the cast iron manifolds. People would do it to cheat at street races and such.

http://www.gethoned.com/

Heres an interesting site. Just google extrude hone and all kinds of stuff comes up.

Also try searching abrasive flow machining

Contact Hinson Supercars, they still port the OE manifolds even though they no longer advertise doing so. They claim around 10whp and if I remember correctly they were under 3 bills as well.

I have stock manifolds w/ bassani ORY and dynoed 345hp at the wheels w/ just a couple of bolt ons. I love the sleeper look and will soon install mild cam, hope to get to 12.0s, without any weight reduction.
