car wont start on first start-up

Default car wont start on first start-up

I go to start my car and it just cranks for ever. then when i stop and re-start it, it fires right up??? Just a bolt on car with a 255 fuel pump. whats goin on??

Hard to say. Just a quick guess.. start with the ground on the side of the block.

I had the same problem with my truck. I asked the garage to do a fuel pressure test and they found 2 bad regulators. I had both of them replaced and I've never had it happen since. It fires up immediately now, all the time.

you could be loosing fuel pressure when you shut off your car and that would cause a long crank time. try keying it up twice or 3 times before you accualy crank the engine and see if it fires right up then you know what the problem is.
