Free flowing... but quiet?

Free flowing... but quiet?
I'm probably gonna go with Kooks 1 7/8 headers into their off road Y. But i'm looking for a catback that is real real quiet. Obviously quiet is a relative term at that point considering the large cam and ginmourous headers but you know what I mean. haha
Or i'm thinking I can fab a 3-2 reducer catless y into a docile catback. But then have a cutout right before the 3x2 reducer. Anyone have an exhaust setup like this?

The Hooker is quiet enough to make Cops not even give me a second look going through checkpoints and sitting behind me at lights. I didn't use the chrome tips, but tucked the dual tips up and behind the bumper cover, then straight down. You can't see the exhaust at all. Pointing them to the ground helps a little with the noise. Very stealthy. Click on the cam clip to not see the exhaust. The cutout is open in the clip, of course.

If you are looking for quiet I think your starting with the wrong headers. I'd go either 1 3/4 LTs or maybe even Mids. The 1 7/8 headers your using will be too free flowing for the quiet, restrictive cat back you want to use. Also, LT headers will make the exhaust louder just by themselves.

Hooker hands down with a cutout in that sweet spot under the passengers seat. The tips suck however but Fast Toys has polished 304 stainless steel rectangular tips 2 for a $100 and them bitches talk pure evil.

Ever consider Borla?? I have one on Stock manifolds and its pretty tame. I've heard the muffler on a 98 cammed/bolt ons Z28... a nice depth to them.. like an idling motorboat. They can ROAR at WOT.

I have a Borla, Hooker LT's and ORY, that thing screams at WOT. Although I don't even have a plate in it on the adjustable side. Maybe if you had it totally blocked off and it ran only through the mufler.

My SLP dual-dual is pretty quiet IMO and sounds good. I had the muffler to I-pipe come loose at the track last year. I removed the muffler and tail pipes completely and showed no MPH increase. So my track experience would suggest I'm not losing much of anything from the muffler.

My car came with the SLP dual/dual package as part of the SLP option and you can't really hear it inside the car at all but outside the car it has a nice tone to it. Quiet at idle, quiet at cruising speed, nice and throaty at WOT.
