Default SSRA Super Sucker Better Than Other CAI Systems?

I was just curious how the SSRA Super Sucker Ram Air system compares to other CAI systems, such as FTRA or SLP's. Is it worth the extra $90, or would an SLP unit be just as acceptable?

Feel free to share dyno and/or trach results with the Super Sucker.

Thanks,
Josh

I can't say about FTRA or SSRA but I have a
SLP CAI. For what it's worth, it's a well
constructed stainless piece. The bad part?
It shrouds the radiator (A/C condenser) very
badly. Especially since I have a tranny cooler
mounted front and center, this was a bad
blockage. I've hacked mine up a lot, made it
to draw air from the top (above the plastic
shroud instead of from the radiator face area).
Have to hack it some more to pull it up away
from the radiator and get better cooling airflow.
With the original arrangement it raised my IAT
by 10-20 degrees (I have an SS hood already)
where I would run maybe 85F on the sensor I
got 104F the day after I put it in. Some folks
have mentioned "heat soak" in the stainless but
I think it's just sucking up hotter air off the
pavement and radiator than you get off the hood.

Had to try it out, but as-delivered it's no better
than the "free ram air" as far as I can see.

I like mine, but have nothing to compare it against. Al is a great guy to work with. His customer service is excellent.

All the ram air kits have their pros and cons. The SLP/Whisper doesn't flow as much as the SSRA or FTRA, FTRA covers the radiator which makes it run the hottest of the three. Since the FTRA runs all the way down to the air dam this acts as an extension of it making it the most susceptible to hydrolock. The Supersucker can be dinged if you we're to pull up close to a curb or take driveways fast. Evaluate your driving habits and needs and decide from there. E-mail me if you have anymore questions and I will be happy to answer them. I produce the Super Sucker.
