Default 85 MM MAF question....

Anyone know where to get the little adapter plug to let you use the 85 MM Z06 MAF in a 98 F-Body?

How does the ZO6 MAF improve over the stock piece?

How does it affect tuning?

it has a larger (85mm)diameter. You can buy them calibrated for f-bodies.

I tried the ZO6 MAF in my 98/M6 Firebird, after i install it, the car it's knock
after i install the SLP 85mm MAF the car it's better than ZO6 MAF
The tuning it's necessary to be better perform in (flow) MAF, LID, intake,......!

Good luck

As someone posted above I think it had to be calibrated for F-bodies. Maybe yours wasn't?

That brings up another question about the 85mm MAF. Is there a wider frequency range?

What are the dyno proven gains with the 85mm MAF?

Dyno gains with a stock programmed pcm are around 5-10 rhwp and a equal amount of torque. GMHighTechPerformance gained 5 rwhp and 10 tq after 200 miles of driving. It take that amount to time for the pcm to adjust to the extra airflow and A/F. A calibrated maf should not cause a power lose on a STOCK tuned car. I have a SLP and it made it big difference in passing power uptop. However I'm running extremely rich with it. Thought about getting a Pace vv. Haven't heard many problems with them. My dyno numbers are pretty good with the slp.

So there is still more to be had with tuning?

pace sells theirs with or without a screen. you pay like 20 more for no screen though. With tuning(correcting the A/F ratio)you should see more of a gain

Slp states that there maf should only be used with a stock tuned pcm. When I had my car dynoed the A/F graph going up and down from 11-11.5 which is extremely rich. However I think I got some knock retard around 4500 rpm since both the hp and tq dipped down slightly. My gas mileage had gone up greatly with the stock maf but the power ain't there like it is with the slp.
