Default valley cover question

I have a 98 Camaro (LS1). I already bought a LS6 intake. Do I need a different valley cover (from a LS6 engine) to complete the installation or I can use mine (LS1 type)?

You don't need a new valley cover.

All you need is the LS6 coolant lines and plugs.

If you don't have them already, Thunder Racing has them for about $40.

The LS6 valley cover is just suppose to help with some of the oil consumption problems that people see when they mod their Ls1 or have higher milage. Good to have but not necessary. You can always use a catch can or breather or even both if you see the problem with your engine.

The LS6 valley cover kinda cleans things up a bit too,,,gets rid of alot of the black tubing for the PCV system that the LS1 cover uses.
Trivial but true.

You don't even need the LS6 cooling tubes. You can grind or chip off the ribs on the bottom of the intake where your current cooling tubes run. Works perfectly.

When you do your install, be careful about your oil pressure sending unit

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR COMMENTS. SO, THIS IS NOT AN EXPENSIVE PART, SO WOULD YOU BUY THE LS6 TYPE OR NOT?

I wouldn't. You'll have to grind a tab off your block to make it work. That's something I'd rather not do unless absolutely necessary. Plus I don't think the benefits are all that dramatic. I'd run a catch can if I found an oily intake during the install.

That is why I did not do it.
