Default LS6 Intake Install - Any benefits to leaving the stock coolant lines?

I know some guys are removing them and blocking the rear 2..

I know some guys are leaving the stock lines in place..

Is there any benefit to removing them?
Is it better for the car to leave them?

I have heard leaving them helps keep the #7 cylinder cool??

Just curious..

Thanks

Jeff

That is why I did not block the back ports off.

Yeh, it just seems, they took the time to put the lines there for a reason..

I left mine in. My car didnt have a cooling problem before so I didnt feel like fixing something that wasnt broken. It just took about two hours to grind down the tabs on the bottom of the intake w/ a dremel.

That's one reason I decided to leave them ... besides the fact that it is cheaper and easier just to knock the ribs off the LS6 intake.

You have to be a bit crafty to make them fit..

I hear it's not brain surgery, and since I am a noted brain surgeon, I should be ok..

I swapped mine out with the ls6 coolant pipe and rear plugs and haven't seemed to have a problem. But I don't have really hot weather, don't run at the track much, and have the 160 degree t-stat in with tuned fans

I just used a dead blow mallet and flattened them out and it seated just fine.

Hammer and a sharp chisel. Took the grid right off the bottom. Almost too easy.

I just used two of the ls6 coolant pipes, no cutting or worrying whether or not it will cool properly. The write up on LS1HowTo.com is a good guide, I followed it to the dot and havent had any problems.

put chalk or similar marking material (paint etc.) on the pipe and press the manifold down into place, you should then have a good guide for where to trim.

you can use 2 ls6 pipes and have them T into eachother, but the truck pipe angles higher so its a bit easier to run the line to it

I used what looked like a giant pair of nail clippers (really I think they were tile clippers or something) and just clipped off all of the ribs that were in the way. Then I just Dremel'd down what was left to smooth it out. Worked like a charm, was free, and easy.
