EGR Delete now too lean
I recently removed my EGR, i knew i would get an ses but i had it scanned any way the codes were
P0405/ Egr flow Sensor A Circuit Low Input
P0171/ SYSTEM TOO LEAN (BANK 1)
P0174/ SYSTEM TOO LEAN (BANK 2)
I'm going to install race headers on Thursday and the reason i deleted the EGR so early was because the was a air leak where the EGR meets the intake manifold, so I used a freeze plug for the intake, took the EGR apart and made a gasket so there wasnt an exhaust leak. I was just going to have the codes tuned out but I was worried that because it was too lean should I get a dyno tune? but i really dont have the $500 for that.

if someone is going to tune your car anyways.. he will adjust the fuel trims so it wont be lean.
He most likely will not hook up a wideband sensor so you wont know the EXACT A/F ratio, but with this adjusting it should be pretty close.

Just curious -- why would removing the EGR make you run lean? The EGR recycles non-combustible gases into the intake. Removing it wouldn't remove fuel so I don't see how this would cause the car to run lean or am I missing something?

I had an air leak on my EGR port on my old LS1 intake (lost the o-ring when installing headers and didn't notice!) and my fuel trims maxed out at +25. I then got a SES light and had the lean condition codes as well. Due to all the unmetered air leaking in after the MAF the PCM tried to compensate by going max fuel add but the O2s were still reading too low so it set the SES light.
When I found and fixed the air leak I reset the PCM and this brought the fuel trims back inline and the trouble codes disappeared.
