Default Is it possible to find a LS6 intake at a junkyard?

I know the ls6 intake came standard on 01-02 ls1s. and I think they also came standard on corvettes (not really sure). i was thinking about this a couple of days ago, wouldnt be possible to find one of those cars in a junkyard and pull it out and use it? If it is possible, what other items would be needed to be pulled out to use?

LS6 intakes are found on '01-02 f-bodies, '01-04 'vettes, and '04 GTO.

Yes its possible to find one in a junk yard, but not likely. Atleast around me its a rarety to see a late model f-body or 'vette in a junk yard. Usually when these cars are totalled someone usually parts it out or sells the car as a whole - they rarely end up in jumk yards because they are very desirable.

You'll also find that the junkyards won't let you take parts off an engine, they'll want to sell the engine as a unit.

I've tried this also but rarely will you find one. As mentioned, they want to sell the motor as a whole piece. Also, these cars make up a very small proportion of the dismantled cars out there. And finally, I guarantee you there are many others in your area with the same idea who are trying the same thing.

If a junkyard has an Ls1 engine, they are going to want to sell it complete. I doubt they would sell just the intake. they are cheap enough on the boards or ebay. Normally $300 shipped. You can find them cheaper if you look.

I agree with everyone else. Even if you were to get lucky enough to find one in a salvage yard, they wouldnt sell it a piece at a time, it would be all, or nothing.

There are several ways to tell if it's an LS6 intake or not, one easy way, would be that the LS6 doesnt have provisions for EGR.

Dear lord yes take it now before someone else does! 250 is a badass price for one, just make sure it isn't cracked or anything. You never know..

That's a nice price if it's indeed an LS6, and doesn't have any damage.
