Most big name 100% synthetics are all good. Mobil 1 has its own not duplicated formula, and I hear amsoil, and royal purple are a great choice too. I prefer mobil 1 to reputation and availability.

That's funny...there's plenty of it at my Autozone always in stock, and you can order it at the counter at ANY Autozone, even if they don't have it on the shelves.

lets be real here....just use the recommended 5W30 Mobil 1....all synthetics are good...stupid waste of money tests that each "oil lab" performs have many controlled variables, uncontrolled variables, etc. Quite frankly, it is just a preference matter. Hell yeah they are conducting tests and comparisons are being made to other oils, but there is always a piece of info they don't tell you about their so called "tests." Futile argument.... Go with a synthetic and you'll be fine. I prefer Mobil 1 because I have literally beat the hell out of every vehicle I have owned using Mobil 1 and have never had any problems; including my ZX12R Ninja that has 37K on the clock.

Care to tell me why GM "recommends Mobil 1" in Corvettes? Write me a 500 word essay on the brainwashing effects of advertising. GM gets paid by Exxon/Mobil to "recommend Mobil 1." Nearly every lab test that has ever come back from Mobil 1 oils on the LS1 has shown it's not even close to the best oil. Mobil 1 has been downgraded to a group III synthetic - AKA not a real synthetic - and the proof is in the UOA's - consistently much higher amounts of iron in the UOA's due to poor protection of components.
Umm...you can't call them "uncontrolled variables" when Mobil 1 has shown higher wear numbers in almost every single test. It's not "uncontrolled variables" when it's consistent. Mobil 1 simply isn't the oil it used to be. This has been proven without a doubt.
No, it's not. It's Mobil 1 nutswingers that simply buy it because it says so on the oil cap of a different car - a Corvette. I swear, you could put "Use Only Filippo Berio Olive Oil" on the oil filler cap of the LS1 and people would actually do that.
BTW, this month at Autozone, if you buy 5 quarts or more of GC 0W-30, you get a free Bosch oil filter. There's almost ALWAYS some kind of special with Castrol Syntec, unlike Exxon/Mobil products. It doesn't help that Exxon/Mobil is the largest and most greedy of the oil companies, they never have sales, either.
