Lose as much weight as you can and pull the front swaybar or endlink for better weight transfer. Also the free ram air mod.
After the free mods:
TORQUE CONVERTER!

There are many mods that are affordable and can make your car much better in the performance category. Some have already been mentioned, such as gears, stall, tires, suspension, pulleys, ect. As far as HORSEPOWER is concerned, here is a rough breakdown of the “best bang for the buck”, starting with the highest horsepower to dollar ratio:
NOS ~ 100 HP / $500 = 0.2 HP / $
Cutout ~ 10 HP / $60 = 0.17 HP / $
Lid ~ 5 HP / $95 = 0.05 HP / $
LT Headers with ORY Pipe ~ 30 HP / $700 = 0.04 HP / $
Forced Induction ~ 150 HP / $3500 = 0.04 HP / $ (probably more like 10 grand to do it right)
Catback ~ 10HP / $300 = 0.03 HP / $
LS6 Intake ~ 15 HP / $450 = 0.03 HP / $
These are only rough estimates obviously, as I am sure that I will get many responses questioning the horsepower numbers I have chosen. Some of the numbers will depend on many factors – especially the forced induction which depends on boost values, intake mods, exhaust mods, and cooling, to name a few. I didn’t mention heads or cams because there are too many varieties and variables to sort though. They can be a very good mod as well if chosen properly. Finally, your bankroll is also important: The NOS may be the best bang for the buck, but if all you have is $95 then the lid becomes the clear winner…
