Default Just finished poly motor mounts! PITA!

well just got finished my damn motor mounts...biggges PITA...Never again will i do this. GM gives zero space at all. I did it with longtubes on. Only thing i removed was the starter. And most importantly my Y pipe doesnt hit the floorboard at all now!

Congratulations! You're a better man than I. I have them and was set to do them, but then we got the buzzing and banging taken care of with more grinding on the k-member and some crimping of the Y. So I chickened out of the job.

Are there any guides/how to's for doing this? How much easier would it have been if you removed the headers?

It sucks anyway you work it. You need a good clamp and drill too.

It will be a bit easier, but IMO it doesnt make that much difference. It just a haggle to aline the mounts back onto the steel mounts. Lots of wiggling and prying. Getting them on isnt bad.

It took me a few hours using a lift, I kept my LTs on, but removed the starter too.

Fixed my y pipe problem too.

don't feel bad, I went at it for 8hrs with my friend before saying **** it and drove it to my brother in law's shop for him to finish

OP, congrats man, I didn't finish mine. I'm sure there were plenty of times when you were probably close to the breaking point

It is tough. Get some good prybars and a friend to help you out.

I have had mine for over a year and still haven;t put them in as I don't have any tools to do this myself, and the local shops want way too much money to do it.

Did your new poly mounts come with bolts for the clam shells or zip ties. Mine came with zip ties. I'm going to go ahead and use bolts.
