Question Poly engine mount install feedback??

I have my engine out right now and I'm thinking about installing some polyuerathane motor mounts when I put it back in. I'd just like to get some feedback from people that are running these as to how they compare to the stockers in terms of vibration, shaking? Car is cammed and I want to minimize vibration and noise as much as possible so I'm leaning towards running the stock mounts but I know the install is a PITA so I don't want to miss an opportunity for a relatively easy install when I put the motor back in.

So folks that switched to poly, any regrets? Anyone switch from poly to stock?

I switched to poly to stop my exhuast from banging. I haven't had any negative side effects from it and l am completely happy with the swap. I now have NO exhaust problems due to engine movement. If you're running a cam I would recommend doing it since you will be placing alot more strain on the mounts.

Do the motor mount, leave the trans mount stock.
I can't feel the motor shake, but I can DEF feel the trans vibrate.
And the trans mount is cake, literally like 5 bolts to replace, the motor mounts are hard.
Do them while you have the easy shot.

I just did a cam swap thru the engine drop method, definitelly do the engine mount now! The trans mount is what causes mos of your vibration usually. I would put a new stock trans mount on for now if your worried about vibration and see how it holds up.

everyday I walk past the box of poly motor mounts just sitting there on the table and they give me the stare-down. I really am not going to enjoy putting these on but sometimes I want to stop my car and rip off my ORY when I am driving. Sorry for the hijack....they help a lot, put um in.

They are definitely nice. Plus, when you "hand throttle" the engine, i.e. revving it from the engine bay by manually turning the throttle cam, people go "holy **** the engine pulls the whole damn car with it!"

Also, I have a poly trans mount as well and I noticed no extra vibration.......

If you've already got the engine out, you might as well upgrade. I bought some Prothane motor mounts which I planned on installing along with my AR headers, but everyone I talked to said there was no need to swap the mounts for the AR's. They were right. I still have the OEM motor mounts in my car and I have zero issues with vibration or Y pipe banging. I'll sell you my Prothane mounts cheap if you want them. PM me. I don't plan on pulling my motor and upgrading the mounts anytime soon, but I do think the PU mounts would be an improvement.

I have polyurethane mounts for both the engine and trans on my car. I upgraded to poly engine mounts so that it would stop the exhaust banging, that pisses me off more than anything. When I pulled out the stock rubber motor mounts with 88,000 miles on them, there wasn't much left to the driver's side mount, totally shot.

However, now that I've driven with the poly mounts for while, you can definitely feel the increased vibration. You can feel it in the whole car while driving, especially in the shifter. If I had the chance to do it again though I would, I'd rather do poly mounts once and be done with it than do rubber mounts again. Not to mention the entire divetrain stays put, nothing will tear a car apart faster than a drivetrain that isn't securely mounted in the chassis.

They're not bad to do, I did mine when I did my headers, and they'll be cake for you to do with the engine out. My car has no extra vibrations from the Prothanes and I'm definitely glad I shelled out the whopping 50 something bucks for them.

so youd rather break a trans mount than live with some minor vibrations?

I never even recall having a vibration.

I did the poly mount and kind of regret it now. I should have install solid mounts. Y-pipe was fine for a few months and is starting to bang the floor board again.

What do you mean? I did poly motor mounts when I put my headers in and never even really thought about putting a poly trans mount in at the time (didn't really know anything about them) I'm actually going to try out a poly trans mount for sure to see if it tightens things up a little bit at the track. As for living with vibrations in my car, I've got a prokit/stock shocks and dumped duals...I've become very accustomed to all sorts of uncomfortable ****
