Supposedly these are both 99 motors but why are the pulleys different?

Re: Whats the difference between these two water pumps Knowing GM, they probably revised the design of the pulley midyear. I seriously doubt theres any difference with the actual pump itself. I have a 98, and mine looks like the one in the first picture, with the bolts visible.

Re: Whats the difference between these two water pumps He's right they just changed the design but I don't think it was just mid year I think it was just 98's that had that when you go to repaceit GM will sell you one like in picture #2 with no bolts.

Re: Whats the difference between these two water pumps Early 99s had the bolt on one, all 97-98s had the bolt on one originally. I have seen a couple 99 vettes (including mine) with the bolt on pulley stock, the car it came from was probably a very early 99. I just pulled the heads off a car made in 8/01 (its an '02) and it has the old style head gaskets so you never know with GM..
