Default $$$ What would you buy?

I've been looking to drop some money into my 98Z M6 for a little SOTP factor. I'm looking to spend around $3500. As of now, all that is done to the car is a slp dual dual catback. I'd like to stay away from a turbo, just because I don't want to dump a bunch of $$ into upgrades needed to support the turbo. Where do you all think I should start?

Thanks for your help

the basic bolt ons.. long tubes, LS6 or Fast intake, Lid, sticky tires, susapens mods... then save up more because the rearend will probably go after that.

I would say find a used sts rear mount turbo. There is no other upgrades you have to buy. You will go from 300HP to 450 and you will be perfectly safe. 3500 dollars, great drivability until you want power. DONE. 1 mod. 150 HP whenever you want it.

Headers: 25HP
Catback: 10HP
Lid: 15HP
Cam: 40HP

Thats 85HP and you will probably need so many other supporting mods for that. Turbo is just 1 thing and your done. Plus you have the cool factor.

Sure there are more efficient turbos, but you need a new bottom end, a TON of supporting mods, tweaking your engine all the time depending on the weather.

Well im going to agree with what was said above. Excpet is your car a 6spd or auto? If auto a stall is the 1st thing. If not i would in no order

1. Headers and complete exhaust
2. LS6 intake
3. Gears, 373 for auto, 410 for 6spd

These 3 things will give you the best SOTP feel for the buck. Gears are prob the best IMO for seat of the pants

well if it were my car and i had that much cash... do all bolt ons known to man headers, no cats, good exhaust (i prefer true duals), underdrive pulleys, new plugs, wires (if its got some miles on it), in ur case get a LS6 manifold or go with a fast 90mm intake and NW 90mm tb dont waste ur money on a fast 78mm cause its hardly any different than the LS6, port & polish ur factory tb, lid, k&n filter, m.a.s. ends to get rid of the screens in it, there is more bolt ons that im forgetting im sure then id throw in a decent cam with supporting valvetrain upgrades, 4.10 gear to the rearend, replace factory shifter ive broken 4 stock hursts they just dont work for me, then some suspension like lca's panhard, trq arm, etc. oh yeah and cant forget a good dyno tune. beleive it or not you can get most or all of this stuff done within ur budget as long as you ARENT like me and only want the best of everything as in my case i wanted QTP $800 headers u could get pacesetters for half the price OR less. pm me if ya got any ?'s sorry for the rant didnt know i typed that much... one more thing make u a list of exactly what you want/need and post in the WTB section and scan the parts F/S section u can find some really good deals.

quality headers, LS6 intake, lid, cam & springs, tune (on a dyno, not thru-the-mail), maybe gears, sticky tires if you're not scared of popping the 10 bolt.

Thanks for all the info/suggestions guys. My question now is would it be better to get the fast 90/90 or stick with ls6 intake? Do you think the fast would be a waste if I don't plan on getting cam/heads just yet? Also, I've read some good things on the Typhoon intake. Any input on this?

ported tb $100

gears & install $400

tune $400

id see how deep ur pockets are and make that call yourself ported and polished tb if you bought one used $100 bucks or u could send ur stock one of to be ported. for like $70 and a ls6 manifold ive seen some on here for sale for $250-$400 bucks cause they have upgraded to the 90/90. if you go with anything other than a ls6 manifold id go straight to the top with the 90/90 setup.
