How I fixed my banging y-pipe for free. BIG PICS
I've done this to a couple cars now and it's worked every time. I've got $0 in this, but you may spend a couple bucks if you don't have a welder or some sort of paint at the end.
First pic is stock and you can see the minimal clearance betweeen the floor and exhaust, I had less than 3/4"
Next I took my cutoff wheel and made two cuts along the floor board where the drivers exhaust pipe runs.
Now with the floor cut, I took a hammer and hammered it down to create more clearance. I had to use a 6lb sludge for some of it. BE CAREFULL NOT TO HIT YOUR FUEL LINES WITH THE HAMMER.
Once it was hammered flatter I hit the sided in to match the center and took my welder and welded up the 2 cuts and then used Rubberized Underbody Spray Coating to seal it back up.
Here you can now see the extra clearance. I gained about 2"
Yes, my welding isn't the best, but it works.
Took me less than an hour to do and no more banging y-pipe and no extra vibrations from having to do poly mounts. My car vibes enough from the cam.

at all the negative comments and the poster getting pissed....
I give you thumbs up and props on the new ideas and guts to do it, but cutting into a car like that is something that I personally couldn't do, as I'd be scared of structural integrity. If it works, and doesn't bother you or hurt your car KUDOS!

I'm not getting pissed. I just think it's funny that some people think these cars are precious. I just have a different state of mind on these things.
I posted to help others who may want a cheaper alternative.

Wow... You would actually rather cut a structural part of the car than flatten a pipe a little bit... I'm sorry but this is one of the stupidest things I've ever seen on this site. Or any of the other car sites I am a regular on.

Thats not exactly a new idea. I have been doing the same thing for 2 years now on everybodies car I work on. The only difference is that I just cut that plate completely out right there. Its not a big deal, and its not hurting the structure of the car.
You dont gain more than 1/2" though if you have longtubes. With longtubes a straight piece of 3" pipe will be rubbing right on that spot on the body, and that piece only hangs down about 1/2". You still have the fuel lines right there also so you cant get the pipe but so high.
