Default installing asp underdrive pulley , how hard to do

i am wanting to install this myself and i did a search on the install and went to ls1 how to looks pretty simple. the only thing that has me worried is the part about putting a screwdriver in the flywheel to keep it from moving. what bothers me about doing this myself is , what if i put a screwdriver in the flywheel , and the engine still moves ? will that cause a big problem inside the engine?

You need a GM puller, it's a small three prong puller. I used an impact gun w/ a swivel head. The puller fits, just barely, but it does. Wait till you see the heavy wagon wheel you're replacing, LMAO...

yeah i know that but my question is what happens if i put the screwdriver in the flywheel to keep the motor from moving , and it moves ? is it bad for the internal engine to move while the balancer is off?

no because it can only go back on in one spot...there is a key on the crank and you arent taking the timing chain off or anything

Make sure you use the correct puller with good quality hardware. Last time I pulled my March off, I broke one of the puller bolts off in it....needless to say, it wasn't a good experience. Also broke an extractor off in the bolt.

I was going with a different pulley anyways, but it still made it a pain to pull the old one off.

By the way, 4th gear with the parking brake set works for me.

update, i ended up taking it to the mechanic due to no time to do it myself , anyway he just tried to put it on and he just called me to tell me that he cannot get the pulley to match up with the belts meaning that the pulley sits to deep in there making him unable to put the belts on cause of it being to deep. any ideas?

um..ls1 crank pulley is not keyed. You just bolt the bitch on there and torque to yield the crank bolt.

I installed a powerbond pulley this past weekend. i used the install tool and pushed it on as far as it would go. i then torqued it to about 200lbs. All of the belts lined up. i don't know about yours. You might have been sold the wrong one.

Yeah, mine doesn't look like that. My car is a 98 Z28. what year is yours. did your box it came in have a model # or anything to reference? If so, you can find that same pulley on line and compare what cars it is for. I am suspect of parts on ebay. Yours didn't list a part number or anything. Take a better photo of it and post it. Maybe someone here is familiar with it and what it fits.

Do have a Vette or an F-Body? Pretty sure they are different pulleys...

I think that pulley is for a Vette. I know the ad said it would work on F-Body's, but I don't think so...

Do a part no search for F-Bods and Vettes, see if they're the same or not. That might be the problem. Good luck...
