Default More Mods?

I haven't done any mods since april and have been saving up for heads and a fast 90/90 combo and am looking to get this done hopefully by december. My question to you guys is what are the best heads for my setup and if this would be the right set of mods to go with? My car is a dd so I don't want to go extreme but want the best heads I can get but still maintain driveability. Thanks

first off...there really is no "best head"

but since you car is a street car, i would suggest staying in the lower side as far as intake runners. this will boost low and mid range power.

it will be hard to beat the AFR 205s milled to keep the compression up. or you could go just a bit bigger and get the TrickFlow 215s, also milled.

more of a budget...some stage 2.5 5.3L heads would work nicely

AFR205s are great if you have the dough. What you want to spend, and what what you want to do will decide what the best head is for you.

2-3 grand just for heads? LOL obviously you aren't on a budget Pick up the AFR 205s, like stated before mill em to keep compression up. THe AFR 205s plus the FAST 90/90 should give you a niice power increase and will be perfectly driveable.

I have to echo this. My heads are milled to 59 cc's with a cometic .040 gasket. I have 11.5 to 1 compression due to flycutt pistons should be 11.8 to 1 without flycutting. You have a smaller cam and may be able to mill to 58 cc's without flycutting and get close to 12 to 1 compression. With really good (name brand gas Mobil, AmocoBP 93) gas you shouldn't have to worry about fuel issues. I know the throttle response is going to be monsterous and the torque is going to be awesome with high compression. If you are worried about PRE DETONATION then mill to 60 cc's and get around 11 to 1 compression. 11 to 1 will still be awesome throttle response. I know when my compression was bumped from 11 to 11.5 to 1 the torque went up a bunch and she responds instantly when given some gas.

Thanks for the responses. So the afr's would be better suited for me than the trick flows? I appreciate the info

i just have a personal preference for AFR's because i have seen very good number from them and have experienced good customer service....nothing against trickflow at all, but i believe the AFR's are higher quality.

This may be a stupid question but will adding these mods increase the volume of my car?

Volume as in sound/tone? Yes. You'll notice a deeper tone with larger valves.

Volume as in cylinder capacity? Depends on the combustion chamber sizes of the head you choose, the gasket, and whether the head is milled.

After heads? Ohhh yea You're gonna notice quite a difference in volume and tone. My buddy's 5.0 turned into a whole different beast after heads when it came to sound. If you like it loud, you'll love 'em.

Well, you have longtubes, a LM2 and a cam...so is it safe to assume it's pretty loud right now? It'll be louder, it'll be deeper, but I can't tell you how much. I'm stock internals. I can tell you that by buddy's heads-only 5.0 sounded like it grew a big set of ***** after his heads, so I would expect even more out of your bigger CI/aftermarket cam car.
