Default Which catback system to get (on a limited budget)

Hey y'all - I'm looking at picking up a catback exhaust for my '98 Formula. I have a lid, bellows, and a K&N already. I'd like her to be a little louder, but mostly I want to add the the car's proformance. However, I'm a poor grad student and can't drop more than 400 on the whole deal. Any suggestions? Thanks a lot!

Easy get the hooker for around 280 bucks,, real good flowing and real good sounding, Do a search and you'll see in all the catback threads alot of hooker recommends.

Although you'll get constant debate on which cat back to buy...my 2 cents: i love my slp "loudmouth" exhaust $349 from slp==>
best to hear one and drive someone's f-body with this exhaust before you buy it though, it's very loud inside the car all the time, no muffler, just a resonator. but it does flow very well, has to be one of the best flowing (more power) catback systems out there. i will agree that if you decide to put headers on the car, it borders on "too loud", again a subjective opinion, but one you hear very often.

How about a 2000 SS system that someone has replaced with an aftermarket noisemaker? I believe it's quite good flowing; Bret runs 108 in the 1/4 with it, the "free" mods and a ported TB.

Someone here might have one for sale.

Go with the hooker, if you go to the track and want more performance, I believe that the muffler can be removed real easily in like 20 minutes

Look in the parts for sale section; many people are selling what they had over the last few years in favor of something new.

Don't get Loudmouth, you'll hate it. Especially if you have an auto.

Hooker is great.

There's a Loudmouth for sale in the parts for sale section for $200.That would leave you $200. to put towards another mods.

I love my loudmouth
Also, I am getting headers with cats next month and it shouldn't be too bad, but will sound badazz. The only trick to that is KEEPING CATS!

I have the Loud Mouth and I have an auto and I love it. Your statement is purely an opinion so please state it as being such.

Another vote for the hooker. And it takes like 5 min. to remove the muffler, just 3 bolts

Thanks a bunch y'all - right now I'm thinking either the Hooker, or maybe the magnaflow. Does either one (or any of them for that matter) offer a performance difference?

Take this info from someone who has had three different exhaust setups (1)Hooker shorties/RT cats/LM (2)Macs/RT cats/LM (3)Hooker LT's/ORP/catback (all JH coated)......HOOKER ROCKS!!!. Absolutely the best all around exhaust note.
As a side note...the LM resonator hangs way too low and looks like ***.
