Default maf moding

well i've read a lot about why you should keep your stock MAF and TB so the question is, are there any negative effects of cutting out that piece of metal in the MAF and smooting it out(still leaving the screen in) and porting the stock TB and romoving the bump stop? i know i wont net a whole lot of extra power but i figure if its free with no negative effects, why not. thanks.

you can buy ported MAF ends which is fine, I just really think you should leave the screen in.

But hear this: Your MAF bone stock is not limiting or restricting your power until youre in the 500hp range. there are many more things you could do with the $$ to get something with a bigger gain.

Now the bumpstop has to do with the TB and is fine, most people have that done when they P&P their TB.

yea, i'm definatly leaving my screen in after i found an ant, love bug, and some other small debris that i wouldnt like in my engine stuck in the screen when i put on my cold air intake. and i'm thinking about sending my TB to new era performance an they'll port it for $75. but your saying i should buy the ported maf ends, instead of cutting out that piece of metal in the center of the maf?

i dont mean the meter, i mean that piece of metal that is supposed to angle the air toward the meter or something.
