Default Long Tubes vs. Shorties

What makes such a difference between Long Tube headers and Shorties? How does one give better low end power and the other give high end power?

Longtubes will give better power than shorties in every conceivable way, period. Longtubes will also give better power than midlengths, although the Macs are pretty good and will make essentially the same high end power on a stock cube car, I beleive. Longtubes are still better on the low end, though, due partly at least to better exhaust scavenging.

shorties will give very little gains on the 01+ LS1's since their stock manifolds flow well.LT's are the way to go
