Default Headers/ORY questions

Right now I have just a hooker catback and LOVE it! Im about to buy a set of pacesetter headers and a custom 3" ORY pipe...My questions are.....is that setup going to have alot of rasp? any drone?

If so how can I get rid of that?

Procharger will be going on soon after as well, incase that matters.

wouldnt know how to answer that..but ill inform you that you'll soon run into the header rubbing against the frame problem...while your down there with the exhaust manifolds off.... change the motor mount bushings to polyurethanes...

I've got pacesetters, ORY, and a flowmaster and it's got rasp and I can tell from the sound it's happening before the muffler, so I don't think the catback will change anything other than quiet down the rasp. I know it's before the muffle because it's even worse with the cutout open. I think the desgin of the ORY is the problem, it really needs a true merger collector to reduce the rasp.

y-pipe + no cats = Rasp.. just how it is... Getting a Flowmaster Merge in the Y pipe will help keep the rasp down though.. also the Hooker cat back is very quiet so it will not be all that bad. If you want it quiet put some cats on the Y pipe with that exhaust.. it will probably sound almost stock.

yeah it'll have rasp. I'm in the process of doing headers now and wanted a custom Y also, I'm thinking of just getting one with cats or some bullet mufflers to help with the rasp.

Your car should sound good with this setup. Hooker is probably as tame as the car can get with headers and an ORY. I have a magnaflow catback (almost as tame as hooker) with pacesetters and a TSP ORY and it sounds absolutely awesome. Everyone loves the sound. In my opinion, a hooker catback will have even less rasp.

Here's how your setup should sound. It's on a WS6 with longtubes, ORY, and a hooker catback. http://www.ls1sounds.com/Hooker/hook...LT_3in-ORY.wmv

The smell of your car depends on your tune. If you don't get the car tuned, your car is definitely going to smell quite a bit. I was worried about the smell when I got my ORY, but I just said screw it - it's cheaper and it makes a little more power. I got my car tuned after installing my headers and ORY, and the smell doesn't bother me at all. I can't smell anything if the windows are up, and I can't smell anything with the windows down or tops off unless I'm stopped.

Besides, I actually kinda like the smell.

I tried a Hooker with ORY and it still had plenty of rasp in the 2200-3000 rpm range. Other than that it was very quiet.

In my experience, rasp is very hard to completely eliminate. I still have some with cats, a Flowmaster merge, and a Powerpack chamber in my I-pipe.

I went with the Hooker LTs and catless ORY pipe. My muffler is a magnaflow muffler with both tips coming out of the same side. I had a problem with the ORY raddling and fumes so I took it to the muffler shop and had flanges welded in ( 2 on the headrs and 1 after the merge collecter) to stop all of the leaks and really secure the piping together. I didn't really like that slip fit crap. Now the only problem I have is the Y-pipe taps the floor board under hard acceleration on the take off.
Also my car has very little rasp!!

I had the LT's, ORY, and Hooker setup and I have to say it was one of the best sounding exhaust I have heard with a ORY. You will have alittle rasp, but it's nothing that is going to ruin your day. Like said before it is pretty quiet until you go WOT. Best thing to do if you do that setup is to put a cut-out in the I-pipe that way you have the best of both worlds. Loud when you want and quiet when you don't. Drone is virtually undetectalbe. With my new car i'm going Magnaflow just because it's Stainless. I didn't like the way the Hooker muffler started looking after some miles. You will not be disappointed!
