Default Opinions on which oil pressure gauage to get...electric or mechanical?

I want to buy a oil pressure gauge to install in my triple a-pillar gauge panel. Should I go with the electrical or mechanical? I like the full sweep of the mechanical ones, but I read that I will have to drill and tap some fitting. That sounds like a PITA. What do you guys think?

You want electrical. Mechanical means you have to run a pressurized oil line directly to the gauge. Electric uses a sensor that you mount on the motor, then run wires from the motor to the sensor. Much easier and safer.

What he said ^ you don't want that line to spring a leak! Not to mention the price difference is fairly small. I have an electric autometer ultra lite for oil pressure on my lsx rx7 and it works well enough for the cost.

Yea get electrical, theres no need to have a line with 60psi of oil in your car. Tim
