Question Sparkplugs...

Hey guys... been doing searches on sparkplugs... are the NGK TR55's still the choice for everyone? I'm a little turned off by the sound of them being cheap and not lasting that long... I'm getting an LT and ORY install done on Monday and might as well switch out the plugs, but after that I really don't want to touch em again for a while as everyone knows what a PITA it is....

what are some other options? I'm not nitrous or FI... just a 118k engine with a few bolt-ons... nothing fancy...

also... what's the gap supposed to be at... i saw numbers ranging from .30 to .70 when I did the search

currentley i've got the silverstone plugs with the nology hotwires
http://www.nology.com/hotwork.html

so far they have been great... but figured i'd try a little something different...

wes i have the NGK's and yeah they are good . . . course i don't know why it's a PITA to change the plugs out. i'm sure though more people will chime in but the NGK's have my vote

I did mine for the first time and it only took about 2.5 hours. I chose the NGK TR55's...and I am happy with them.

If you are bolt-on only then yes the TR-55s will be fine

I have the Bosch Platinum +4s and they are great! I could tell an improvement from the Denso's I had in there before.

and see... everyone says those are crap, but I'm not so sure they are... I think a lot of people just kinda jump on the bandwagon and say that without any actual experience... they look good quality...

what i'm worried about with the NGK's is it seems like people change them often... I live in an apartment complex with very little tools and no garage so doing "anything" to my car is a hassle... no matter how big or small the job is...

The Bosch +4's are nice, but the only benefit is that if one electroid gets dirty the spark will jump to another. Electricity take the path of least resistance its not jumping around all 4 as many think...

I ran these plugs for about 10 minutes and replaced them with NGK plugs. You can have to Bosch Platinum if you want them. They are brand new and cost me $66.00. All I did with them is test the car out after my header install and replaced them to the NGK's. Not even 2miles on them. Just let me know. My car idled rougher with these plugs thats why I changed them again..

My truck had Bosch +4's in it when I bought it and they sucked pond water. Check out AC Delco iridiums.

Unless you live in Germany, stay away from Bosch. TR5 or TR55's for N/A, TR6's for most nitrous setups (if you're doing a really big shot you'll need even colder)

the tr55 are great plugs if staying n/a,as is the tr6 plugs if you are spraying.the ngk plugs are by far the most popular on here. i run autolites myself with good results but as with everything some people have better results and differences of opinion than others. when you get your lts on changing plugs is fairly easy,i just unplug the coil packs and remove them on my bomb and it is very easy to get to all of them.
