Default how much restriction?

I currently have dual 3" pipes off the headers to a 3" y and then a single 3" cat and it necks down to a 2.5" single pipe out the back. I know this is rather restrictive but I'm wondering if I should go with a single 3" all the way back or just leave it and get 3" cutouts after the collectors. Two questions, will the single 3" pipe flow enough at wot? and will it be decently quiet with the high flow cat and as long a magnaflow muffler as I can get?

This is a 2001 LS1 in my '85 Celica with hooker longtubes, K&N cone filter, and ASP underdrive pulley. I'll be getting it tuned in the near future and it will be my daily driver/long trip car. Thanks for any input.
