You must have the 3 to 5 wire adapter, and you can run either the "calibrated" unit, or a factory unit. With the factory (OEM) unit, you'll need computer tuning to adjust the MAF table in order for correct air reporting. If not, your Air-Fuel (especially at WOT) will be dramatically wrong.

The calibrated unit would require no computer tuning, as it's output mimics that of a stock unit.

No. He means that they are calibrated for f-bodys. No OEM 85mm MAF are calibrated to take the place of our stock ones.

They may work better, in an untuned car. As far as the unit itself I doubt that the electronics are any different then the one with the screen. I would think that the Z06 ECM is where the difference is to allow it to run descreened. I could be wrong though.

the pace and slp maf have a resister in them. the one from a zo6, truck, caddy are all the same and need to have the MAF table changed in the tune. they say it's better to do it that way rather than have the slp unit. but i never seen a problom with either option taken. as for the harness, u can just cut the pigtail off a truck in a salvage yard and sauter it if u don't want to spend the 20 bux for the adator harness.

Any GM truck with an LS style engine has it. And it's gonna cost you about $20 to get the connector from a salvage yard, so you're better off to get the adapter and not have to worry about bad splices.

You are correct. The calibration tables for the Z06's are different. The factory descreened MAF (2001 Z06 I think) shows a higher volume of air at the same frequency as the 2002 Z06.

At the same hz value from the oem 85 mm MAF, the oem f-body ECM calibration would make the ECM think you were getting more air through the 85mm MAF than would actually be flowing. It should make you run rich because the more air the ECM thinks you are getting, the more fuel it gives you. If you can't change your calibration table and/or don't have a wideband 02 sensor, it's probably not a good idea to change to the 85mm MAF.

As an example, after I installed my 85mm delphi MAF, I was running very rich. At WOT my actual AFR was 11:1. I could see the trail of black smoke my car was leaving from being too rich.
