battery smoking... melted cable
Hey all I just fired up my new engine, and it ran fine except two things. first the battery started smoking and the cable melted. did the battery have a shorted cell or something, or did i maybe forget a ground or something? also, and this happened last time i drove the car before i put this motor in, the engine revs up real high (like 2500) for a bit before it comes back down. i sprayed some brake clean back near the brake booster vacuum hose and it revved up again. do you guys thing its the booster hose, or could the little hose for the pcv that goes back to the back of the valve cover do that too? thanks guys, im hopin to get motoring this weekend yet!

well i found out what happened, the battery cable touched the header and just melted so i replaced both cables and it seems to be ok for now. as for the vacuum leak, i replaced the booster hose so well see if that solved it when i fire it up here in alittle bit. thanks
